For the past few months, poetry has occupied a small part of my mind. There is something amazing about it. Poetry is a bundled down version of your deepest thoughts and experiences. When you really think about it, it's extremely difficult to write. Imagine the most intensified moment you've ever been through ... then think about the way you felt, the way the air smelled. The way your stomach churned. Now compile that into say 3 sentences. Impressive right? It's hard to express through words how you feel. So I've decided that I'm going to do a poetry series and post poems written by me and others. My request of you is to try it and send it to me. I would love to see what you all come up with : ). The poem below is written by me.
Did You Want to Kiss Me?
Did you want to kiss me? Could you feel the way I ever so slightly pressed my lips against your neck just to feel the warmth radiate off of you. My heart beat fast against my chest as I melted into your arms.
Did you want to kiss me? Could you feel the way my hands snaked behind your back just to clutch at your shirt. My ears rang with the presumptuous silence of expectation.
Did you want to kiss me? Could you feel the way my lungs gasped for air when you pulled away. My chest clenched together and my heart shook the bars of the caged it's held in.
Did you want to kiss me? Because that night I wish instead of walking away into the darkness, you would have turned around and kissed me back into the light.
