We have a poem written by one of my dearest friends below. It's complex yet simple and carries a deep message. Let me know any thoughts you may have and I can pass them along.
He gets down on one knee
and asks to marry me.Am I supposed to be happy? As a woman in AmericaSeeing his face everydaymakes the love go away.Am I not allowed to feel this way?As a woman in AmericaAs the story line goes my stomach grows.Am I supposed to glow?As a woman in AmericaThe baby criesand a part of me dies. This isn't how I'm suppose to replyAs a woman in AmericaThey say I am young and it's just a phase. One day this feeling will go away.but why can't my belief stay?As a woman in AmericaWaiting alonefor my husband to come home.
Is this how I'm supposed to be shown?
As a woman in AmericaFeeling trapped in a marriagewoman look at me with disparage.Does this make me a bitch? As a woman in AmericaNot wanting a child by my sideI take it up with pride. Is this something I should hide?As a woman in AmericaThey say I am young and it's just a phase. One day this feeling will go away.but why can't my belief stay?
As a woman in America
