It Rained Today

October 23, 2017

I'm continuing this poetry series with TWO poems in one day. One is by me titled "It Rained Today" and the other "Hyphenated American" will be posted after this.  Please let me know if you have any poetry you've got that you want looked at or posted.  It can be anonymous too.  Enjoy!

It Rained Today

It rained today

And it made me think

With the most colorful of memories

Of those times

When you'd grab my hand
And lead me outside

Into the wet air of summer

To tilt my chin up and kiss me

With the promise of tomorrow

Singing to us softly

But that was then and this is now.

It rained today

And I stood in it

With the cold drizzle of yesterday

Chilling my bones

As I waited for you

To take my hand

And lead me away

Into the warmth of tomorrow

But you didn't come

And I'm still waiting

It rained today

And it made me wonder,

Will it promise to rain tomorrow too?
