Honestly, I'm not a fan of blogging. I find it cumbersome, very, what's the phrase ... "fast fashioney." As if I have to talk about the latest trends, topics and ideas or else I won't hold an audience. Well, spoiler, I don't actually care how large my audience is nor do I care what anyone thinks about my topics. I write for me in a way to reach out to you through a shared experience. Whether you want to partake is entirely up to you.
Anyways, let's move on from that some what aggressive preface. This post is centered around travel, although warning it will be a short post (I'm sure none of you are upset by this).
Recently, I went to Manhattan Beach, California and my goodness it was magnificently beautiful or as Alyssa from The End of The F***ing World would say, "properly beautiful."
The first day, we went to the cliffs in Palos Verdes, California. It was utterly amazing. I didn't realize there were so many shades of blue until my own eyes had to shy away from the vibrancy. I mean look at this photo. It doesn't seem even real.
Then there was the starkness between the sky and the cliffs. The contrast is so severe that you can quite literally see the defining edges of the jagged rock edges against the crystal clear sky.
I don't have a picture of it but that very same day when the sun set, there was a magnificent blend of deep purples, burnt organs and soft yellows. I know there is a scientific explanation for why the sky lights up the way it does but let's just marvel in the Earth's ability to even have the exact chemical make up to create such beauty. ... (this is the pause where we marvel). All of that was just day one. The rest of the trip was filled with delicious food, unforgettable one liners, and the beginnings and continuations of both old and new friendships. Let me tell you though, for those of you who have never been on a real girls trip, y'all are missing out.
When I returned to Ohio, it made me realize how much I haven't seen on this Earth. Now, I'm not down playing the mid west. Everywhere you go there are hidden gems that most miss but still, as cliche as it sounds, there is a beautiful and scenic world out there that is literally waiting for you to find. Sometimes I feel that we get caught up in mundane routine of our lives and forget that, "hey! the world wants to see you just as much as you want to see it." That's why I've moved to the top of my life list, Travel.
Okay, for those of you who don't know, a life list is basically a bucket list. However, I named my "life list"because it seemed to fit better for me. Plus, bucket lists tend to have an air about them that you do said items only once. Well, I'm greedy and want to experience things on repeat, ergo, life list.
The point is, travel to me is a necessity to a well rounded life. You get to meet new people, see incredible sites that seem only real in dreams, and experience different cultures. So my unsolicited advice to y'all is to go out there and literally see the world. Each of you has something to offer and the world will be a better place if you share yourself with it.
