A place we all seek.

A house

A car

An open road

Home.

A place we all want.

Solace from the dark

Warmth from the cold

Laughter from the sad

Home.

We all find one

Here or there

Among friends and foe

A home is no place

Yet a place all alone

But

I don’t belong here.

Home, what it is to you

Is not what it is to me

The stars seem closer

Than the roof over your head.

But

I don’t belong here.

Home, a haven of warmth

Is a cage of ice to me.

The moon reads my mind

In the shadows of the day.

But

I don’t belong here.

My home isn’t with you

Or him or her

Or here or there

My home isn’t safe

Or scary or somewhere in between

I don't know where home is

But

I do know it’s not with you
